Why I Am Excited About YUMERIUM?

Okay, another day another coin/token/whatever, the floodgates have been opened and it is flooding.
So why am I excited about another run-of-the-mill coin offering? Well if you are too lazy to read, I am excited about the promise of Yumerium, and boy, what it offers on the table are enough to get any gamer excited!

So let me first unpack a couple of things here.

I am tired of the so-called “free-to-play” model, mostly because I am not a whale, I cannot afford the thousands of dollars to have actual fun in the game I am going to be invested in. The whole concept of free-to-play has metastasised into a behemoth of skinner boxes and traps to lure the unsuspecting or maybe even those who are financially suicidal (yes, because I do consider paying a boatload of cash to have fun in something is stupid).

If I want to have fun then I'd rather pay upfront on a $60 console game or something on sale in steam (but hey EA is making sure that we are not going to have any fun in the near future if we don't drown them in cash so). The whole idea is dated, there is no real concept of free-to-play anymore, there is just tricks and addiction inducing strategems.

While we're at it, the state of triple-A gaming has, well, became stagnant, which is redundant since triple-A gaming is largely known for it's uninspiring games sticking to default molds and innovations are rarely sprinkled in the smallest amount it would take a microscope to see them. What I want though is the budget of these games. Imagine if we can give triple-A budgets to those quirky indie darling games, how much they can improve in scope and beauty. How big and immersive would their worlds be?

I have never seen a model which links gaming and any *coin tech. I mean you can say cryptocat is
kinda a game, but what else. It seems that this new found tech is shying away from games altogether, acting only on the periphery. At most, they act like a haphazardly cobbled together add-on or maybe a totally separate product that is just tangentially related to whatever game you like, and is ultimately
irrelevant to the actual game, more or less a lip service. This and among other thing are answered with Yumerium and so much more. They offer a promise of a much better system in which both us gamers and the developers can be satisfied!

Listen to this, Yumerium allows games to be funded through the models pioneered with blockchain technology. This means lesser entry level cost for those of us living on chump change, and much better, the model incentivises early adopters. The most loyal of from your communities are naturally rewarded for their loyalty. And this in turn help keep the player retention as a longer time invested in the game is not rewarded by repetitive experiences but with increasing value of their time.

Think about this, the game you love to play can now metaphorically love you back the longer you stay with it (though I am unsure if you can technically marry a game outside of
japan). And through this, you can be sure that other players too are incentivised to play the game longer, sustaining the community that you love. Thinking about a game that lives on forever? With this model it is entirely possible.

And what's nice is the model of the game-funding (through the ICO) and the game economy (through mining whilst in-game) and even the marketing of the game is tied together in a neat bundle. As a gamer you can feel you have an impact on the game's whole economy and it isn't just random numbers. As a developer having gamers play your game alone can be enough cash flow to keep your marketing-costs and upkeep.

Aside from that, I am excited about the one other thing the blockchain is good at; making things
unique. Think about this, a prize item you receive, or an achievement you accomplished or even a leaderboard can be totally unique to you. You are the first person to accomplish an achievement, well then let the whole world see it. The game worlds will now have truly unique items to be given away, you are not just wielding a +5 sword, but your+5 sword.

Okay, how about unique digital copies of a game? Not possible? Well, welcome to the blockchain my
friend. Now you can go and actually swap games digitally like people once used to do physically before it all became bogged down with DRM. So why would we want that? Okay think about this; don't you want to play the actual genuine copy of the game your esports idol is playing. Think how rare and special copy would that be?

On the subject of DRM, the since the whole system is set up to incentivise early players then naturally players would want the game earlier than usual rather than waiting for the pirated release, a win for developers. Likewise a win for players against developers who use such excuses to implement intrusive DRM system. As for those streamers and youtubers, Yumerium promises a easy way to be compensated. You don't need the largest following like pewdiepie or stream at a high level like ninja, you just need to be diligent and loyal to the game, of which if you are already streaming/making a video-on you probably are already.

I am just scratching the surface of what Yumerium can accomplish, this new platform promises a lot of things and from what I can see I am excited for the future of the games industry.

And the best thing is, it is way to easy! If you crowdfunded a game then you can do so in Yumerium, want to earn money via streaming or some other way of supporting your fave game? Use Yumerium. Want to make sure your item build of pure swagger is unique? Only in Yumerium. You just got to
love the game and play it the way you want and you can be rewarded! How cool is that.

If you are not excited by this then I don't know anymore!
